In a local beer bar in Panevėžys I got to know a story which says that if a tree gets struck three times by lightning it becomes blessed. I immediately connected it to the city: the prosperous industrial past, later – both economic and social crisis and now an uncertain but promising future. Dramatic and difficult periods frequently bring to a path of “renaissance” and that’s what I felt through the specific energy I found there. This series of photographs made during a period of five days for the lithuanian project „Migruojantys paukščiai“ shows my first encounter with the city and its inhabitants.
